Information on the funding period 2024/25

1. Further procedure for the application process for Winter Semester 2024/2025

Dear students,

the current application phase for the winter semester 2024/2025 ended on 16 May 2024, 2 pm. Thank you for your interest in the Deutschlandstipendium! We received a total of 419 applications.

What happens now?

1. A selection committee appointed by the Rectorate of the University is expected to decide on the awarding of the scholarships on 27 September 2024.

2. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the Scholarship Program Act, the Scholarship Ordinance and MLU's statutes. The Germany Scholarships at MLU are awarded once a year in the winter semester.

3. Notifications of approval will be sent exclusively by e-mail in the period from 14 October to 18 October 2024. Please check your mailbox and spam folder regularly.

4. The planned award ceremony with the sponsors and scholarship holders is expected to take place on Tuesday, 5 November 2024.

5. The negativ replay are expected to be sent out at the end of October 2024.

2. Frequently asked questions

What are the chances of receiving the Deutschlandstipendium?

In principle everybody who achieved or will continue to achieve excellent results at school and/ or university can apply. However, the awarding of the Deutschlandstipendium also depends on how many sponsors support the scholarship programme at the university and for which fields of study scholarships are available. The total number of scholarships awarded since October 1st 2011 can be found here.

How many and for which fields of study are the Deutschlandstipendium scholarships awarded?

Currently 81 scholarships can be awarded. The number of scholarships will increase until winter semester 2024/25 and will be continuously updated here (state of 16 May 2024).

Applications are also welcome for all degree programmes, even if your degree programme is not listed in the overview.

3. Regulation of the standard period of study due to the Covid 19 pandemic

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a regulation was made regarding the standard period of study (here, at the end). For students who were enrolled in

• summer semester 2020
  
• winter semester 2021/22
  
• summer semester 2021
• winter semester 2021/22
  

and not on leave during that time, the standard period of study extends up to four semesters. This means, that the Germany scholarship can also be received up to four semesters beyond the actual standard period of study.

How will the adjustment to the standard period of study be considered for my application?

The adjustment of the standard period of study due to the Covid-19  pandemic will be taken into account for all applicants in the selection  process, so you will not be disadvantaged.
